Options for the Chosen Wand?

I'm tossing around the idea of making two alternatives to my beloved 12" -1.5" Chosen Wand, based on recent requests.

A Titanium version that's a pound and a half lighter.. (waiting on a price)

And a shorter version , roughly a foot, for tight spaces, stairs motorhomes etc ($570)

This near perfect wand continues to sell like hot cakes with cleaners of all ages being so enthralled with it, they daydream of ...options...

Thoughts?

I can see both working out. In fact, I could use the lighter one because of how I have to lean in and remove mine from the wall mount I’m using.

You've always been a bit obsessed with jet drips and clashing and fiber distortion, which I appreciate, so I have to imagine you are enjoying the "cleanness" of how The Chosen's jets work...

If and when you ever see the need for a wider head ( I know first hand how equally obsessed with big heads you are) you'll love my Simple Wand too.

For open areas and dirtier carpet it's a champ.

I set mine up with a Slot and 6 flow and along with the 1.5 tube, although a hair shorter than the Chosen, I can really move with it.

Titanium has gone from an "exotic/unusual" choice for a wand to an expected one in my region.

"Oh, that one is stainless steel? Nevermind..."

I think it is a good idea.

8' whip hoses are a blessing to you, the carpet, and your customer.
I have a 3-4 foot whip for attaching the 2" to a swivel stair tool. Sometimes if I just need a couple extra feet of vac hose for the wand, I bring that in. Even at that length its not the same vac as if I put the 2 inch directly on the wand. Cant imagine the loss of vac using an 8 foot whip

The Chosen Wand is my favorite wand. But at least on mine the jets were to far apart. On some carpets it would leave a center line that was less clean (often on berbers). I spent the first year using it trying every combination of jet sizes, 95's and 110's, I bought jets that have a tapered spray pattern from Spraying Systems along with the even fan pattern that Joe Bristor sells. Also several sizes/types of jet extenders, tried angling them and straight. trying to find the best combination that would give a perfect even spray that didn't spray out the sides to much. I was able to get the spray pattern dialed but never perfect on all carpets. With the glide off which is how the wand was intended to be used when designed, the sidewings catch any over spray out the sides because they are sitting on the carpet. But because we use a glide on it the sidewings don't stop the overspray on the sides because they are lifted of the carpet. My solution was to break the jet holders off then grind off about 2mm then had them welded back on. Effectively bring the 2 jets about 4mms closer. Problem solved. Perfect spray pattern now, using 9502's. Perfect wand.

I never understood the 2" to the wand craze.. I run a Butler system with a 25' lead hose 125' total. Carpets dry just fine. I take my time on dry strokes use mechanical agitation to prep and dry with air movers.

In my experience, there is a distinct improvement in drying times when using a two inch wand. I don’t think very many would challenge that. I’ve never tried using 2” hose coupled to an 1.5” wand, so I don’t know if it is an improvement or not. Back in the 90’s, the improvement was HUGE and worth the drawbacks because my old, underperforming TM’s were so inefficient; however, that’s not the case anymore. The difference today is no longer worth the physical punishment and property risks associated with using 2” hose. I’d be willing to speculate that a lifetime of using 2” hose and wands will take 10 years off of your cleaning career. If I could go back and begin my career over, I’d have sliders, lift buddy’s and a 1.5 chosen wand with a hole glide from the beginning.

Lockdown and (efficient) airflow are easily confused.

Bike racers figured something out the hard way.

Skinny, rock-hard 23mm tires looked fast. Felt fast. Tested fast on perfect lab rollers. But real roads aren’t perfect. They vibrate. They chip. They buzz your hands, back, and legs for four hours straight.

So the pros went wider.....28s, even 30s. Lower pressure. Less chatter. Less muscular fatigue. Same (or better) rolling resistance on real pavement. The rider isn’t cooked when the decisive move happens.

Carpet cleaning isn’t different.

A 2" wand on full seal is impressive. Huge airflow. Strong extraction. But it takes more effort to control. More resistance per stroke. More cumulative load on wrists, elbows, shoulders. Do that 300 homes a year for 20 years and tell me it doesn’t matter.

A 1.5" wand is like the wider tire.
Balanced. Manageable. Sustainable.

Now add a Hole Glide.

Instead of full vacuum lock-down, the relief holes let controlled air in under the head. The wand doesn’t glue itself to the carpet. It glides, nearly effortless. You’re not breaking suction every stroke. You’re not muscling it forward. You’re guiding it.

That’s the real comparison.

Wider tires didn’t make racers soft.
They made them efficient.

Hole Glides don’t make cleaners lazy.
They make the wand move the way it should have all along.

Less fight.
Same results.
More longevity.

And that’s the part nobody talks about until their shoulders and elbows start barking.

I have a cheapy 2 jet 1.5 wand with a butler and a whip hose.
On some carpets I get that dark area in the center. I found it to be that's where most of the vacuum is. So the center is just a little wetter from pooling. Extra dry strokes gets rid of it.
It only happens occasionally. Like you said it happens on berbers and other dense carpets that the water doesnt flow through as easily.
I would clean the area over and over and the wand still left that skunk streak. Then i realized what was happening.
You would think the middle of the vac slot would be dryer but its not. Its like sucking water with the vac hose where it pulls all the water around it but when you lift it there is still a puddle there where the hose was last.

Sometimes the dark area in the middle can be the jets. I use a 4 or 6 jet drag wand and i found that when i got dark patterns/ lines/streaks it when the jet spray patterns collide. I found that if this is the case an ever so small angling of the effected jets clears this up. When the spray from 2 jets touch it destorts the spray pattern on the carpet

Is there are any particular reason you're bringing this up??

The Chosen doesn't have this problem
