I was at a restaurant yesterday where the square using cashier handed me the Ipad with the app set to the Do you want to leave a tip? page, just before the signature page..

I've never had the nerve to present my Square app to my customers this was as its not customary to tip a owner of a carpet cleaning service.

But that being said, when I was using another similar app, the leave a tip feature was on the same page as the signature line and I would quite often get one.

I think for my guy's benefit, who most certainly deserve a tip more than I, it would be nice to have the option to put the request on the same page...

I'm with you. When I go to get my morning coffee at the local drive thru they hand me that damn tablet. It really annoys me. I also use Square and I have to do the same thing to my customers. I feel really uncomfortable doing that because it seems like i'm begging for a tip. The Square app on my phone doesn't give me a choice to turn the "Tip" begging feature off when I go for their signature.

I have my tip setting disabled. I figure if they want to give me a tip they will reach for the spare change in their purse or tell me to make it for more.

How do you disable it? Guess I need to play with it.

Yeah, mine is disabled as well. I dont feel comfortable putting that tip screen on as an owner / op. I’m a very giving tipper when it comes to eating out and having a waiter / waitress. That being said, if I’m ordering a bagel from the cashier, I’m not going to give them a tip becuase they took a 10 second order. Personally, I think its tacky. Just my opinion.

Ill be honest, I'm so grossly undercharging here in NV for my level of *retentiveness, many are tipping me regardless off the app.

I feel good about it.

On the other hand, in Scruz we have to charge too much for me to take tips comfortably when I was on that truck.

My guys on the other hand do ok wht tips and I hope this app switch helps..

I use square. It just asks how much and what numbers. No tip.

I don’t have issues with employees getting tips. It makes you look good and is confirmation that your employees are doing a great job. As for the owner being tipped, it makes me uncomfortable, especially when asked for on the app.

Like a restaurant server, I pay half of minimum wage, so Jon depends on those tips to feed his family.

I knew a cleaner years ago (before we had apps) that actually had a *Tip*line item on his invoice. He was an owner/operator.

That's guts.

The only Tip I personally ask for, is a review to my business If they're fully satisfied with my services. That takes the money out of the equation.

I had a client call and demand his 20 dollar tip to be returned...when he realized I was the owner he wanted it back...apparently he did not feel that owners are allowed to get tipped....the guy has turned out to be a pretty good client...I have cleaned his place another time after that and he has referred me to 2 different clients...

Funny topic. I emailed an invoice to a regular customer through HCP. I'm pretty sure HCP just added the tip line on the email invoice function. The bill was for 442 , and she picked the 10 percent for a tip of 44 bucks. It works!
